LIEBSTER AWARD

Hi my lovely readers!

I was nominated for the Liebster Award by Andy from Andy’s World Journeys! Thank you so much Andy, I really appreciate it.

For those of you who do not know Andy, he runs a travel blog and shares his amazing travel wisdom, stories, pictures and insights. He goes to very remote countries that a lot of us have probably not been to, which makes his blog so interesting to follow. He visited 84 countries and is counting. Please check out his blog.

The Liebster Award is given from bloggers to bloggers and helps to bring our blogging community closer together as we all start to share a little bit more about ourselves.

The rules of the Liebster Award are:

  1. Thank the blogger who nominated you
  2. Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you
  3. Nominate 11 bloggers
  4. Ask your nominees 11 questions
  5. Notify your 11 nominees

Again, thanks Andy for nominating me! It was such a pleasant surprise and I always like sharing a bit more about myself so people get to know me better. So, here it goes!

1) How are you living day to day in 2020?

I must say I am very blessed. I started a new job at the beginning of the year with a tech company and left the tourism industry just two weeks before lockdown started in the UK. So, I was very lucky to have changed industry just at the right time. I have been working from home since March.

I found it difficult at the beginning to switch of after work as I am working in my living room. My work and living space is therefore the same, but I found a good routine and I now enjoy working from home and am able to switch of after work.

I am cooking more now after work and enjoy experimenting with new recipes as I do not have to commute anymore and I have more time for blogging. I basically only had to adapt my weekdays slightly.

However, I was always doing something at the weekend. Not being able to go out to visit friends and cultural sights was hard. But since the restrictions have been lifted a little, I managed to see some of my friends and I am able to do a bit of sightseeing again. So, that keeps me sane.

2) What are the challenges to finding things to blog about?

Well, I cannot say that I am running out of things to blog about as a travel blogger to be honest. I have seen so much that I want to blog about and I have a ton of drafts sitting in WordPress, but I find it sometimes challenging to find the time and motivation.

But for anyone who is running out of ideas I would say the internet and outside world is your friend. I sometimes look at what other bloggers are writing about to get ideas and inspiration and sometimes ideas pop into my head when I am out and about. We cannot be creative if we always do and see the same things. A change of scenery and environment might help.

3) What are you binge watching (if anything) right now?

Haha, where to start? Once I find a TV show that I like I want to finish it. I am always curious what is going to happen next.

I love Death in Paradise. I like the characters and I am always looking forward to this TV show due to the Caribbean setting and scenery it takes place in. I am also trying to finish the Bachelor, watching some girl drama and I discovered The Expanse.

Thank God for Netflix and Amazon Prime. I am also very inspired by the TV show The Chateaux on Channel 4. I watched it three times already.

4) What are you looking forward to in the upcoming ‘holiday season’?

Well, I had my cruise to Hawaii cancelled this year and I got a future cruise credit. Therefore, I really need to use that and am hoping to go on a cruise.

But all cruises for 2020 were pretty much cancelled so I am not sure if I will be able to use the FCC as I guess there will be a lot of other people that have one and want to book a cruise to use their FCC. But we will see.

If not, a visit to Germany is always a great option. I can see my friends and family and can explore some more of my country that I have not seen yet.

5) Name one thing that makes you happy.

Being outside. I am an outdoor person and just being outside and feeling the warm sun on my face, breathing in fresh air or even jumping into water puddles from the rain and listening to the rain makes me happy.

I go for a walk every day in the week during lunch and at the weekend I go for long walks and hikes. This is when my body and mind can relax and let go from work and anything else that worries me. I always loved being outside, but this year I came to appreciate nature even more.

6) What’s your favourite blog you are reading right now?

Hmm, hard to say. I must say I am currently into Podcasts so I am spending a lot of time listening to those. But I love Home is Where the Boat Is right now from Mary.

I love the decoration and craft ideas she is sharing as well as the cute table settings and delicious recipes. It is a very homely, crafty and cozy blog.

But I follow all sorts of blogs about travel, blogging, motivation, cooking, lifestyle, pretty much anything. I do not have a specific preference.

7) + 8) If you could go to any city in the world right now, which one would it be? Why?

Dubai with my Mum. I was meant to see Dubai with her two years ago, but unfortunately that did not happen as my grandma passed away close to when we wanted to travel. Then we said we would go this year and Covid happened.

My partner does not want to go to Dubai as he has seen it already and my Dad is not interested in seeing Dubai.

I was and am still really looking forward to going with my Mum. We are very alike and I know I will have a great time with her. Oh well, maybe 2022 will be our year.

9) What do you think you will be doing in 12 months from today?

For at least the next half a year, if not longer, I am expecting to be doing the same as now to be honest. That would be working from home, blogging, crafting, going on staycation and hiking trips around my local area and hopefully meeting a few friends again from time to time.

If we are able to travel again, I will definitely go somewhere abroad towards the end of next year. Somewhere warm and with a swimming pool!

10) What gadget have you bought in the last year or two that you couldn’t imagine doing without?

I got a smart watch for monitoring my activity. I like using it during holidays as I am always curious how much I am moving around. But it helped me immensely during lockdown.

My target is a minimum of 10,000 steps a day, even when I am staying inside. It makes me get up and move, so I am not turning into a hippo during Covid 😉

11) What is your single most wanted ‘hope’ for next year?

Well, I have two actually. I of course hope that some sort of vaccine will be developed for Covid so life can go back to normal.

And the second one is for all my friends, family and people that I know and care about to stay healthy during this abnormal and crazy time.

Alright, that is all about me.

Now it is time to nominate the next eleven lucky bloggers and ask them a few questions! I am going to keep some questions that Andy asked me, but will also ask a few new once.

  1. How do you stay busy and entertained during Covid?
  2. How are you living day to day in 2020?
  3. What’s your favourite blog you are reading right now?
  4. What do you like the most about your country?
  5. Name one thing that makes you happy.
  6. How do you stay motivated?
  7. What is your favourite destination?
  8. And why?
  9. Name a random or weird habit that people don’t really know about you?
  10. Which animal do you dislike?
  11. And why?

I would like to nominate the following 11 people and am looking forward to their answers, if they want to participate of course.
